What to do When Introducing Two Dogs

  1. Determine which dog needs help. Who is “tight”?

  2. Turn the confident dog around and offer backend to “tight” dog. be patient. Allow the the dog to sniff until it decides it’s enough.

  3. Allow face to face interaction and notice if either dog tightens. Repeat helping the “tight” dog by turning the confident dog around.

  4. Allow play to build slowly. From a distance use long tethers to keep play gentle until both dogs are “soft” and confident even when the play is more energetic.
