What to do When Dog is “Tight” (Lower Brain)

  1. Identify Stimulus-what is your dog focusing on.

  2. Create Distance-shrink the stimulus by moving away.

  3. Establish authority-with leash and voice gain regard.

  4. Reexamine Patiently-wait for the softer more relaxed dog to reemerge.

  5. Approach, if tightness returns repeat steps closer to stimulus.
